Dr. V Narayanan is going to undertake the charge of the next chairman of ISRO (Indian Space Research Organization) on 14 January 2025. He will precede Sri S. Somnath, the current Chairman of the ISRO who going to retire after completing his successful tenure as the Chairman for 2 years in 2022. Shir V. Narayan has almost 40 years of working experience with ISRO since he joined the organization in 1984. He is currently serving as the director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre.
As per the media reports, Dr V Narayanan was appointed as the chairman of the ISRO by the Appointment Committee of the government of India. The committee announced the New Chief of the Indian Space Research Organization on 8th Jan 2025. Dr V Narayanan will take charge of the Chairman from the Current Chairman S. Somnath on 14 Jan 2025. He is going to head one of the leading technological organizations in India for the next two years. In his tenure government of India and ISRO are expecting a successful launch of the first manned space mission in India.

Let us tell you that “Dr. V. Narayanan” was born in the small village Melakattuvilai of Kanyakumari District of Tamil Nadu state of India. After completing his early schooling he graduated from AMIE with first Rank and enrolled in IIT Kharagpur in M.Tech in Cryogenic Engineering. He earned an MTech from IIT Kharagpur with first rank and later completed his PhD in Aerospace Technology from the same institute. Dr .V. Narayanan also has a fellowship from the Indian National Academy of Engineering.

Key Achievements of ISRO’s New Chairman Dr. V Narayanan
Dr. V Narayanan various private organizations and public sector units of the government of India before joining ISRO in 1984. In his career with ISRO, he has achieved various milestones in the development of cryogenic Engine and Liquid Propulsion Systems technology. Dr. V. Narayanan also worked as the key member of the recent GSLV Mk-III and Aditya Spacecraft space mission of the ISRO. He headed the development of C25 cryogenic engine technology which was later used in the launch of the SLV MK III launch vehicle.
After completing his education Dr. V Narayan worked with TI Diamond Chain Ltd and Madras Rubber Factory (MRF) for a short time and also joined Bharat Heavy Electrical Limited, a Public Sector Unit of the Government of India before joining ISRO in 2022. He was appointed as the Director of one of the most important wings the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre in 2018. In his career, he was the key member of the development of the Cryogenic Engine technology for the organization 1090s.
In his four-year tenure as the director of the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre, his team delivered a total of 183 Liquid Propulsion Systems for the various Launch Vehicles and Spacecraft missions of the Indian Space Research Organization. He also served as a crucial member of the successful Chandrayan 3 mission and successful Aditya 1 missions.
